LEGO set 8864, “Desert of Destruction”, depicts a desert racing scene within the Racers theme, specifically the World Racers subtheme.

“Desert of Destruction” sits within World Racers, a Racers subtheme built around team competition and distinctive racing locations. Its desert setting frames the model as an action-oriented race scene, with the emphasis on rivalry, roles and event staging rather than on a single standalone vehicle.

The set is made up of 966 pieces and includes 8 minifigures. This gives the scene drivers, support crew and race oversight.

It is relevant for Racers collectors, for builders assembling a World Racers display and for play based on team contests. Within the theme, it can be viewed as a desert competition set with a broad cast of race-related figures, useful for both display context and narrative racing scenarios.
