LEGO 40589, Pirate Ship Playground, depicts a playground shaped like a pirate ship, presenting the pirate idea as children’s play rather than as a realistic vessel. Released in 2023 under the Promotional theme, the set contains 168 pieces and includes 2 kid pirate minifigures.

The model places pirate imagery in an everyday play setting. Within the Promotional theme, it is not a conventional pirate adventure set and does not present a seagoing crew or a full pirate ship. Instead, it frames the subject as children using a themed playground.

The build uses 168 pieces and forms a small self contained scene. Their names identify them as children dressed with striped shirts and pirate style headwear.

The set suits compact display, play scenes, or a collection focused on Promotional releases. It can also be placed in a LEGO town layout as a themed playground. Among sets in the same root theme, its identity comes from combining a familiar pirate visual language with a civilian, child focused setting.
