LEGO Technic set 42228 depicts the McLaren MCL39 F1 Car, a racing single seater associated with McLaren. Released in 2026 in the Technic theme, it contains 1675 pieces and includes no minifigures.

The McLaren MCL39 F1 Car 42228 is part of LEGO Technic, a theme that usually treats vehicles through structure, mechanisms and bodywork rather than simple exterior shaping. The subject is a McLaren Formula 1 car, presented as a technical model with a licensed motorsport identity.

This set appears in our LEGO F1 guide, which places it against the other versions.

The build uses 1675 pieces and has no minifigures. The available information identifies a V6 engine and a differential, both consistent with the Technic approach to vehicle construction. Beyond those confirmed elements, the set is best described in general terms as a detailed racing car model.

It is aimed at motorsport fans, McLaren followers and Technic collectors looking for a displayable car build. Within the Technic range, it belongs with licensed racing vehicles, where the appeal comes from the single seater profile, the mechanical treatment and the connection to Formula 1.
